We finished the novel. What did you think? What were the strong points of this novel? Could you identify with the main character? Was the writing effective? Did the author capture your attention throughout the novel? What are your suggestions? Were you confused about anything? Post your comments.

I found this novel to be ok. There were some parts that were exciting and others weren’t. One thing I like was the stories that Lisa told Todd before bed. Each story had a lesson and still made it interesting.
For the last chapter at the end I didn’t like. If Tom Logan went though all that trouble to try and get into the city and gain control, why would he walk out at the end? I know Lisa hit a soft spot on Tom Logan but if I was him I would suck it up and make a deal with Lisa. Tom Logan had the city and everything that was in it in the palm of him hand.
Lisa had a hard time at the beginning, but with her brain and a lot of help from other children she made it through and who knows maybe she would have made it to what she really wanted. The world back to normal. One step at a time she made one corner of the world a more happer place.
I thought it has a good ending. It left me off with a bunch of questions… Some of the strong points in the book where that:
“Freedom is more then sharing” and Lisa said that people fight because there afraid. I can understand Lisa and why she does the things she does. The wirtting was very effective in this book. Tthe author had my attention thought this book, he would always leave the chapter at a mystery or with somthing bad about to happen. I would only suggest to write a 2nd book and answer some of the questions he never answerd (Do the kids die when there 13?). I wasnt confused during this book.
I though that it was a really good book. And one of the strong points in the novel to me would be the ending.
I could definetly identify with the main character, and I think that the writing was pretty efective and captured my attention throughout the novel.
I have no sugestions, and I wasn’t confused about anything.
I thought that is was a really good book. The strong points of the novel were that earning isn’t just something, its everything. I can’t identify with the main character. The author kept me going in and out of the story because some parts were boring. My suggestions are to have a better ending. I was never confused about anything.
I really liked the book, i like how Lisa and everyone had to make their own decisions in life. I think the writing was very effective and he had my attention almost through the whole novel. There was always suprises and excitement around the corner. I don’t have any suggestions and I was not confused about anything.
I think this was a good book with a horrible ending. The readers still have no idea about what happened with the other armies. I thought it was unrealistic that only one person in the world thought of driving a car or going to a farm or grocery warehouse. There was a lot of good parts to this novel but I still think it needs a much better ending that tells you how things end.
I thought the book was pretty good. My favorite part in the novel is when Tom Logan and Lisa are trapped together in the chamber. Lisa picks out his fear and that kind of stuff. The author captured my attention throughout the novel, I always wanted to hear the next chapter. My suggestion would be to say a little more about the Chicago army because i thought that they were going to be a little bit more in the story
I thought that the novel was good. Some of the strong points in the novel were when Tom Logan burnt down Lisa’s house, or when Tom Logan took over her city. Another strong point was when Lisa and her army went outside of the Glenbard to get other kids to fight with them. I could agree with Lisa at a lot of points in the novel, but at other times I think there could have been other choices made. I think that the writing was very effective. The author captured my attention a lot in the book. My suggestions would be to write another book to tell what happens after. I was confused about the question did you die when you turned 13 or just when the plague happened if you were over 13.
O.T Nelson’s “The girl who owned a city,” was a very good book. What I liked about this book was that the main character was a girl. In most books like this the main character is a boy. I also liked how the children worked together to find food and survive.
There were some things that I could relate with Lisa for and others I couldn’t. One thing I could relate with her was that in times of trouble she used her head. One thing that I couldn’t relate to her was when she claimed the city her own and gave no one credit.
O.T Nelson did a good job on keeping the book interesting and keeping the readers attention. His writing style was interesting to listen to. He did a good job writing this book.
Something that I could suggest for this book would be either a sequel or a epilogue. I would suggest this because when we got to the end I wanted to know what happened to th children and to Lisa.
I think the novel was pretty good. I think that it is kind of fake sounding but overall I liked it. I found that there was good detail and explanations for everything and it was easy to identify all of the characters in the story. I think this novel could use a little bit more realistic situations. I was really not confused about anything in the story.
I thought that it was not bad. That Lisa got shot and then got back on her feet really fast. Yes I could and I thought it was lisa. Yes it was. Yes because it was writin good. To make a second book. Not really
I think this was a good book. There were alot of strong piont in this novel. The mains charicter is lisa. The author capture my attention alot in this book.
When we first started reading the novel, I didn’t think I was going to be interested in it, but a few chapters in and I didn’t want to stop reading. Even though I enjoyed the book, the author didn’t have my full attention throughout the entire book. I found some parts not interesting. The strong points in the novel were when Tom Logan was involved. I think they were the strongest point, because he was Lisa’s enemy and I was interested to see what was going to happen between them. I could not identify myself with the main character, because I don’t see myself as someone who would be able to make those kind of choices, and do what she did. A suggestion I have are to explain more about the plague, like if they died when they turned 13 or not. I wasn’t confused about anything, just if they died when they were 13. Overall the book was really good, and enjoyable.
