Well, it has been a very interesting year for me. I must admit that I was a little hesitant about how the year would turn out for us but I am pleasantly surprised with what we have been able to accomplish. I have had the pleasure of teaching some amazing students, and I will be very sad to see them leave our school. I am, however, excited for each and every student who is leaving to go to the high school. There are so many opportunites for you! I encourage all of you to do your very best (don’t all your teachers tell you that?) and stay positive. You won’t always like your classes or your teachers, but if you try to stay positive and remember that “this too shall pass….” it doesn’t seem so bad.
I encourage you to stay in touch! You know my email address, and you can always find my blog here. Let me know how things are going from time to time. You all have so much to look forward to, it won’t always be easy….life will down-right suck some times, but don’t give up! Stick with it and ask for help. There are a lot of people who care about you and what you do with your life. You are an important person!
I am sure that you can come up with some “Carter-isms” but I thought I would try to impart some wisdom to you…..(I am sure you will post your own stories and stuff here as well). Here goes…
Treat yourself and others well. Be respectful. Be kind.
Say you’re sorry and mean it. And after you’ve said you’re sorry,
ask how you can make the situation better.
Do it, just don’t say you will.
And always remember your manners!
I will remember you always, good luck out there!

8D Project plans were due on Friday March 14, 8C Project plans are due Thursday March 20. Please send your plans in ASAP following the outline given in class. (title, description, research ideas, step by step to do list, applications used, etc.) Remember to post useful links to the blog for marks! If you are having difficulty, let me know. I will be meeting with you this week to discuss your project proposals & plans.
Some ideas for your research….check out the information center, public library, people in the community (conduct an interview), get out and take pictures or send an email to request information about the business or community center. Talk to your parents, aunts & uncles or grandparents about why they decided to live in Swan River.
What are the pros and cons of living here? What makes our community unique?

There are so many things going on during summer vacation! Currently, I am in the middle of renovations to my home. We are choosing to do a lot of the work ourselves, which makes things go a little slower and sometimes more frustrating, but in the end it will be worth it. I am reading up a storm, finishing my third book in the last few weeks and am starting to think a little more about school and classes for next year. I hope everyone is enjoying their summer vacations, I know I am!

Well, it is official - we have 11 days left of school with students. At this time, I usually like to reflect on the past year, think about the things we did well and things we need to work on. What are some of your reflections on your learning this year? What did you like about classes and the general school culture? What would you suggest for the upcoming year? Email your responses to me……I am interested in your thoughts and ideas. If you have plans for the summer, feel free to share them as well.
